The respiratory system in humans creates gas changes in the body. The organs in the respiratory system are airways, lungs, and respiratory muscles. The process of gass difussion in the body between the molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide happens in the lungs where the alveoli have the role in the process. The inhalation pocess where the oxygen comes in is supported by the diapraghm. Exhalation is a more of a passive process from abdominal muscles. The lungs has a great flexibility to retain oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide.

What does the respiratory system do is quite complicated in the detailed process. Oxygen in our body is necessary to keep other systems in our body. Oxygen takes place in the energy production in our body to keep all things going. The lungs has a great defense mechanism to keep your body away from infections. The lungs will produce a secretive substance which work as antibacterial agent to keep your airway free from infection. Lungs also have metabolic function, which help us to convert certan enzymes which help the metabolism system in the body.

Our respiratory system also related to vocalization which help us to speak, sing, and laugh. The organs in our mouth, larinx, and parinx help us to produce voice to speak or do other things. Vibration produces those great voice you got for communicating with other people. Gas movements takes place in the vocalization process and related closely to respiratory system. Coughing and sneezing also important part from respiratory system, this is our defense mechanism against many things which might do us harm. Last thing about what does the respiratory system do to us is related to temperature control in our body.
